¤ The base building system does not have good defence mechanisms, so offline raiding is a very common problem. The time it takes for you to heal from a broken leg or a disease is simply unimmersive ¤ Broken legs and diseases shouldn't be in a survival game set in a contemporary world, especially in an online game. One cut per infected after a few hits makes sense, but one cut only per wolf/bear hit doesn't ¤ The cut/bleeding system is unimmersive. Blood trail, tracks to follow or grass folding are simply missing ¤ Tracking is a missing hunting mechanism which makes hunting very dull. Their aimlock and gliding during their attack is even more frustrating They only become a threat when you are at low health, or when you somehow end up cornered and/or blocked inside a building since one of them is bugged at the entrance, while those inside stop you from raising your weapon or move, which means you can’t even defend yourself properly. They also manage to know your position when you are out of sight. Someone shoots with their gun and somehow, the infected aggro on you. ¤ The AI is stupid and the game is clunky. There is no real progression since there are no skills and no missions to accomplish There are no factions and there is no reputation system. There are no NPCs to interact with like a trader or a quest giver. There are no seasons, no dangerous weather phenomenas and no hordes of infected or armed humans that try to kill you and/or destroy your base. ¤ There is no exploration, no complex interaction with the world elements (house windows, chairs, beds, sofas, closet, green house, fences). ¤ Essentially, DayZ is about compulsive looting, storing insane amounts of loots that you won't use for the majority, in your easily raidable 'castle', and killing every other players, usually KOSing them I am listing and explaining those gameplay issues, and I am suggesting some solutions. This is the reason why I wrote this discussion. If community servers tend to have more game mechanisms, sometimes a slightly less unbalanced gameplay, and all that thanks to modders, none managed to fix DayZ's gameplay issues.
